Bulk Luminaire Replacement
Bulk Luminaire Replacement at project launch
The key task when installing controlled luminaires is to unambiguously bind the network address (unique identifier) of the luminaire head to the mounting and the mounting arm. Depending on the project conditions, two different installation processes are supported:
- without the use of QR codes - “quickly mount, then we’ll figure it out”
- using QR codes - “accurate and clear”
Preparatory work
-
Each installer must be added to the System as a user with the “Installer” role. If the installation is performed by a group of specialists, then one account is created for the entire group.
The Installer role contains the limited access rights required to support installation work.
-
The project manager must ensure that the mounting information is available in the System. In any of the possible ways:
2.1. Create manually using the user interface
2.2. Transfer data from the LMS Technical Audit system
2.3. Import information from Excel file.
-
The project manager must ensure that the information on the luminaires is available in the System. Indicate which luminaires of which models should be installed on each mounting. In any of the possible ways:
3.1. Create manually using the user interface
3.2. Transfer data from the LMS Technical Audit system
3.3. Import information from Excel file.
-
Make sure that after loading the data on the luminaires into the System, they all have the status “In stock” or “Issued for installation”.
-
Make sure that the GPS receiver is activated on the installer’s phones.
Installation process without using QR codes
-
Select Map from the main menu.
-
Press the Luminaires button to switch to the view of the luminaires on the map.
-
Find the mounting/luminaire of interest and click on the marker.
-
The panel that appears will show which model of the luminaire should be installed on this mounting.

-
Carry out work on replacing the luminaire on the mounting.
-
Click on the status of the luminaire. Choose a different status. Click “Save”
-
The luminaire has been replaced.
-
Go to the next luminaire on the given pole, or to another pole. Repeat from point 3.
Using this process is only possible if there is a GPS sensor in the head.
Mandatory post-assembly work
-
Collect metrics from luminaire heads for at least 7 days. Ideally 14-21 days.
-
Start the procedure for automatic binding of heads to controlled luminaires that are not yet associated with a head.
- For each head, averaged coordinates are calculated based on the obtained metrics.
- For each head that is not yet linked to the luminaire, the nearest mounting is selected and the controlled luminaire that is not associated with the head. With an error limit of 5 meters.
- Two objects are linked.
-
heads, which were not tied to the luminaires due to the distance of the nearest mounting by more than 5 meters, must be tied manually in the evening using the tools of the developer of the heads for search and identification
